Janie’s Story
I have been a registered nurse since 1989 and have worked as a nurse educator with many adult education sectors across Australia. My PhD was in the arena of the scholarship of learning and teaching and I have continued to pursue research into higher education to inform my educational practice as a Teaching and Research academic.
With respect to my clinical research, I respond to demand driven research problems through my Senior Research Fellow position at St John of God Midland Public Private Hospital, my ongoing collaboration with St John of God Subiaco Hospital and through ICOR, securing industry grants to explore real world problems.
I continually strive to contribute in meaningful ways to the national and international nursing community of practice. I do this through reflexive and effective nursing leadership and academic excellence in teaching and research. My teaching and research roles connects me with nursing students, health care clinicians, higher education specialists and researchers to work collaboratively and collectively for better health outcomes for all Australians.
