Curtinnovation a chance to embark on journey of collaboration with Curtin
A game-changing cybersecurity platform, a data-driven program helping businesses, schools and households reduce their carbon footprint and a smart microchip that monitors the health of pets and valuable livestock are among the previous winners of the annual Curtinnovation Awards, which is again open for applications.
Open to industry collaborators for only the third time, the awards are an opportunity for anyone with an idea for an exciting new product, service or technology to further develop their innovation through research and collaboration at Curtin University.
The Awards embody Curtin’s commitment to delivering excellence and impact in research and innovation whilst fostering a culture of entrepreneurship.
Curtinnovation Awards applicants who submit an idea can win a share of a prize pool valued at up to $100,000 and the opportunity to present their vision to Perth’s research, business, and investor community.
Curtin University Director of Commercialisation Rohan McDougall said the Curtinnovation Awards could provide that big break for aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators, and researchers and this year no idea was off limits.
“Tough times call for out of the box thinking and the 2022 Curtinnovation Awards is a call for bold ideas and ground-breaking projects such as those looking to tackle growing global challenges,” Mr McDougall said.
“The Awards provide anyone with an instinct for innovation with a platform from which to share their vision with the people who could turn the idea into a reality.
“Over the past 15 years, we’ve seen these award-winning ideas, developed through collaboration with Curtin’s world-class researchers and facilities, go on to deliver exceptional results and build great companies.”
Applications are open to current and prospective industry collaborators looking to work with Curtin on developing their innovation further. Curtin staff, current and prospective students are also encouraged to apply. Applicaions close Friday June 10.
In addition to a prize pool valued at up to $100,000, applicants can win scholarships to participate in the Curtin Ignition and Curtin Accelerate programs.
