Curtin marks 15-year anniversary with celebration in China
Curtin University has celebrated the 15-year anniversary of its partnership with Nanjing Audit University with a high-level delegation visiting China.
The delegation, led by Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry with Curtin’s Dean International for China Dr Henry Li and Curtin’s Faculty of Business and Law Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel de Bussy, visited the city in south-eastern China to mark the special milestone.
Professor Terry said she was delighted to meet with senior representatives of Nanjing Audit University as well as staff, students and Curtin alumni in China to celebrate the 15-year partnership.
“Our partnership with Nanjing Audit University has flourished over the last 15 years and it’s an honour to be celebrating this significant anniversary with our colleagues in China,” Professor Terry said.
“With international campuses spanning Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, China is an important neighbour and home to many current, past and future Curtin students.
“Many of these students have benefited from our partnership with Nanjing Audit University, which includes collaborative learning and research opportunities, as well as staff exchanges.”
Nanjing Audit University Vice-President Professor Anping Yu said the University had educated many students with an international vision under the collaboration program with Curtin University. He said the teaching quality and internationalisation of faculty members had also improved via the collaboration’s staff exchange plan.
“Through the 15 years, more than 900 students have graduated from the program, 762 were granted double degrees, and 74 per cent went on to further their studies,” Professor Yu said.
“Today, the alumni both of Nanjing Audit University and Curtin University are active in all kinds of fields in economic society and they have been the medium of cooperation, communication and cultural exchange between China and Australia.”
Curtin University has worked in partnership with Nanjing Audit University since 2004, with Curtin’s School of Accounting working closely with the School of Accounting at Nanjing Audit University to deliver collaborative learning opportunities for students.
The anniversary celebration was held last night at The Grand Mansion, A Luxury Collection Hotel, in Nanjing, China.
Curtin is also hosting its first alumni event in the historic city of Guangzhou in China on Friday.
