Curtin joins edX University Advisory Board
Curtin University has joined edX as a Contributing Charter member, further strengthening the University’s partnership with the trusted platform for education and learning.
Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry has also been appointed to the edX University Advisory Board (UAB), which serves as the chief advisory body to edX Chief Executive Officer Anant Agarwal.
Professor Agarwal, from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said he was delighted to announce that Curtin University had joined the edX University Advisory Board as a Contributing Charter member.
“As a UAB member, Curtin joins senior academic leaders across edX’s global partner network to serve as the chief advisor body to our company. This is an exciting milestone in our partnership, which is one rooted in a shared commitment to furthering innovation in education and providing global access to high quality programs,” Professor Agarwal said.
“Curtin was one of the first edX partners to launch a groundbreaking MicroMasters ® program and, most recently, Curtin participated in the launch of disruptively priced, high-quality and flexible online Master’s programs on edX.”
Professor Terry said she was honoured to join the edX University Advisory Board as a Contributing Charter member.
“Joining edX in 2015 has opened up many opportunities for Curtin University to collaborate with leading global universities to deliver innovative learning and teaching options,” Professor Terry said.
“Our partnership with edX has already increased access to high-quality education for online learners around the world and I am delighted this new development will further strengthen our relationship with this leading platform, which is responsible for transforming education by removing the barriers of cost, location and access.”
Founded by Harvard and MIT, edX is home to more than 20 million learners, the majority of top-ranked universities in the world and industry-leading companies.
Curtin’s network of online learners through edX is now more than 520,000 total enrolments across the globe, with learners enrolled from 193 different countries and regions.
In 2018, Curtin was part of edX’s groundbreaking launch with the announcement of a new fully online Master’s Degree in Marketing.
Curtin is the only university in Western Australia in the edX consortium.
