Academic leader named Curtin Singapore Pro Vice-Chancellor and President

Curtin University has appointed Professor Alex Stojcevski as its new Pro Vice-Chancellor and President of Curtin Singapore, commencing 2 August 2024.

Professor Stojcevski is a seasoned leader with experience across Australia, Asia and Europe. He joins Curtin from Swinburne University of Technology, where he is the Dean of Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies, leading a large STEM enterprise. His previous roles also include senior leadership positions at RMIT in Vietnam and Deakin.

Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne congratulated Professor Stojcevski and said his extensive research, academic and partnership experience will be of great value to Curtin Singapore.

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Stojcevski as Pro Vice-Chancellor – a role that is critical to strengthening Curtin Singapore’s relationships with industry and government and enhancing its profile and reputation in teaching and research,” Professor Hayne said.

“Professor Stojcevski’s internationally renowned academic and research achievements, together with his international experience, position him very well for this pivotal role.”

Professor Stojcevski said he was looking forward to leading Curtin Singapore as it continues to grow and transform.

Professor Stojcevski’s academic achievements include a PhD in Engineering, and Master in Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Education (Leadership) and Project-Based Learning. He has an internationally recognised profile in sustainability and renewable energy, AI and STEM education with more than 450 publications. He has supervised more than 30 PhD students to completion and has strong global collaborations across numerous industries, governments, and universities, resulting in funding of AU$90M.

Professor Stojcevski takes over the role from Professor Linley Lord, who led Curtin Singapore for the past six years. She has now returned to Curtin’s Bentley campus taking up the role of Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global and Academic Lead, University Transformation, Trailblazer. 

Curtin Singapore opened in 2008, after delivering courses in the country since 1986. In 2022, the Singapore campus moved to new premises in the heart of Singapore city in the Alpha building within the industry-driven Singapore Science Park 2 precinct. Curtin Singapore delivers a range of pathways, undergraduate, postgraduate, study abroad and English language courses. Curtin Singapore is also a growing international research hub with a focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
