ESG and sustainability – mastering mandatory climate reporting
Thursday 7 November, 9:00-16:30 (AWST)
This masterclass provides participants with the background to ESG and the regulatory frameworks which underpin it, practical strategies for ESG risks identification, measurement, mitigation, and the subsequent reporting in a meaningful way to stakeholders. This course is run by CIET ESG, Carbon and Natural Capital Accounting researchers Prof. Nigar Sultana and A/ Prof. Harj Singh.
Petrocultures 2024

Petrocultures provides a platform for voices of the South—from Western Australia, the country’s eastern States, the Indian Ocean Rim Region and beyond—to discuss energy futures, their problematic pasts, and what inclusive and just trajectories toward transitions to renewables may look like.
Conference of Australian and Indonesian Youth 2024

Energy research at Curtin workshop

Starting with a speed dating session, researchers from more than six Schools got to know each other and heard about the diverse range of energy research happening at Curtin. Researchers individually developed their own energy-related project ideas and voted on the most interesting projects.

Our third webinar will feature Professor Kelly Shue, Professor of Finance at Yale School of Management, discussing her recent research into the surprising discovery that so-called “sustainable investing” may be counterproductive. Kelly’s research has found that directing capital away from brown firms and toward green firms may make brown firms more brown without making green firms more green.

CIET held an information event for all Curtin students and staff with an interest in energy research, climate action and sustainability. This session was a fantastic opportunity for students and academics from different disciplines to connect with one another and the Institute.

CIET hosted a book launch for Dr Alan Finkel’s newest release Powering Up. Dr Finkel and Professor Peta Ashworth discussed the changing energy landscape in Australia, and the importance of urgent energy transition.
