The Curtin University-led WA Data Science Innovation Hub aims to ensure Western Australia remains at the forefront of digital and internet technologies.
The hub will bring together start-ups, universities and the state government to help drive digital innovation across the sectors of oil and gas, mining and agriculture.
Connecting industry, researchers and students
The hub will support collaboration between universities, industry and SMEs to ensure the transfer of data science skills and tools into emerging sectors, creating wealth and generating new jobs.
In the heart of the action
The hub will operate over two locations: a new facility on St George’s Terrace in close proximity to Perth’s emerging data science community; and Curtin University, close to researchers at the HIVE, Curtin Institute for Computation, Innovation Central Perth and the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.
A powerful network
The Data Science Innovation Hub is one of several innovation hubs supported by the WA State Government under the $16.7 million New Industries Fund, designed to accelerate new and emerging businesses in WA. Others include the Cyber Security Hub and the Health Innovation Hub.
Opportunities for graduates
The hub will help tertiary institutions appoint data science graduates into jobs with local industry.
