Curtin unveils new home for its Singapore Campus
Curtin has officially unveiled its new Curtin Singapore Campus, in the heart of a busy industry precinct, giving students an outstanding student experience, and the opportunity to study alongside potential future employers.
The Campus, which occupies 55,543 square feet of space in the Alpha building within the industry-driven Singapore Science Park 2 precinct, includes 37 learning spaces, three computer labs, and two clinical skills labs fully equipped with the latest audio-visual facilities.
The new Campus is co-located with industry and will create opportunities for staff and students to collaborate, engage and build successful relationships with industry professionals, organisations and researchers, while also providing access to facilities in the Precinct.
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Harlene Hayne said the new Campus would strengthen Curtin’s global presence and reputation by acting as an important international hub.
“This is an exciting development for Curtin Singapore, with the new Campus in a strategic location that will create meaningful teaching, learning and networking opportunities for students and staff,” Professor Hayne said.
“The co-location with industry and fantastic new facilities will inspire a strong focus on research, innovation and entrepreneurship, creating a Singapore hub for our researchers and innovators, along with their colleagues at all of Curtin’s other global campuses.
“This global footprint for Curtin, which also includes campuses in Malaysia, Dubai and Mauritius, is an integral part of our strategic focus for the future as we continue to strengthen our position around the Indian Ocean Rim, by further developing opportunities for learning, research and community engagement.”
Curtin Singapore Pro Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Linley Lord said the Campus offered both staff and students exciting new opportunities.
“We are delighted to take up residence at our new home in the Alpha building at the Science Park 2 precinct with all that is on offer here, including proximity to industry, a wide range of formal and informal learning spaces, brand new teaching spaces and a purpose-built cyber-security room,” Professor Lord said.
“These state-of-the-art facilities will pave the way for an exciting new era of collaboration and connectedness, and give Singapore students the chance to work with their peers at other Curtin campuses around the world and in real-time undertaking joint projects as part of their studies.
“As part of the move, we have also enhanced our learning and teaching opportunities by adding new programs to meet the demands of the region and provide students with additional career opportunities.”
The new programs offered include the Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Science (Data Science), Bachelor of Computing (Cyber Security), and the Master of Business Administration.
Other facilities at the new Campus include a comprehensive and engaging new library space with access to Curtin’s extensive archive of online resources at its Perth campus. Students will also have access to a new research hub, counselling room, and recreational facilities including a Student UniHub, food and drink facilities, pool table and gym.
