Burning plastic waste as a household fuel
In the Global South the issue of plastic pollution intersects with fuel poverty, with disastrous consequences for human health and the environment.
The Curtin Institute for Energy Transition’s Energy and Development Theme Lead, Dr Bishal Bharadwaj, is leading an international study on this emerging issue. He is collaborating with 50+ researchers from around the world to gather information about the scale of this problem and what can be done to address the environmental and health impacts of burning plastic.
