Ryan specialises in optimisation and data-driven decision making. He has led consulting and collaborative research and development programs with various companies and government organisations across the mining, defence, energy, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.
Dr. Fabrizio Padula
Fabrizio focuses on modelling industrial processes and designing advanced control algorithms. He has worked with various industry partners to bring new control methodologies to fruition across different domains, including mechatronics, chemical processes, power plants and mining.
Assoc. Prof. Ritu Gupta
Ritu leads consulting and research projects involving applied statistics, predictive analytics, and data science for government and industries across resources, defence, sports, and local governments. She has developed software for efficient reserves estimation, presented industry-focused short courses and conducted statistical audits for various organisations.
Assoc. Prof. Lorenzo Ntogramatzidis
Lorenzo works in systems and control theory. He has secured several prestigious Australian government research grants and published in various leading journals. His current research focuses on geometric and optimal control, multidimensional signals and systems, and fractional/diffusive systems.
Assoc. Prof. Guanglu Zhou
Guanglu specialises in optimisation, tensor computation, and numerical mathematics. He has published over 70 journal articles. He develops fundamental mathematics that underpins modern large-scale optimisation algorithms.
Dr. Qun Lin
Qun works in scheduling, optimisation, optimal control, and computational mathematics. She specialises in developing and implementing high-performance algorithms for complex industrial applications.
Dr. Elham Mardaneh
Elham’s expertise lies in the use of mathematical and quantitative methods for optimising complex systems. She has experience in building optimisation solutions and tools in applications such as oil and gas, mining, agriculture, and education with a focus on scheduling and logistics.
Dr. Mengbin (Ben) Ye
Ben uses mathematical modelling to study how opinions, information, and behaviours evolve and spread through society, often involving multidisciplinary collaborations. Applications include contested information environments, and collective action events.
Dr. Sarang Kulkarni
Sarang works on real-life, large-scale optimisation problems involving mixed integer programming. He has worked in leading product and service companies in India to develop optimisation products and solutions for transportation, logistics, supply chain, and procurement.
Dr. Scott B Lindstrom
Scott uses variational analysis and computational tools to study problems in nonlinear optimisation from a geometric standpoint. He is an expert in splitting methods with applications in machine learning, data science, and inverse problems (i.e., signal recovery).
Dr. Hoa Bui
Hoa is an award-winning mathematician who works in discrete optimisation, non-smooth optimisation, variational analysis, and convex analysis. She is currently developing an optimisation-based platform for maintenance scheduling for the mining industry.
Dr. Manou Rosenberg
Manou is passionate about solving real-world optimisation problems using metaheuristics and AI-based methods. She has been part of various projects in the renewable energy sector, Australian defence, and agriculture.
Dr. Vinesha Peiris
Vinesha specialises in optimisation, approximation theory and their applications in neural networks and deep learning. She has received several prestigious awards from the Australian Mathematical Society including the 2020 BH Neumann prize and the 2022 Maryam Mirzakhani Award.
Ms. Tamara Andersen
Tamara is a passionate and experienced operations professional who excels in enabling research centres to thrive within complex tertiary ecosystems. Tamara leads the operations functions to support the centre’s clients and high-impact research activity.
Shuang Li
Shuang is passionate about multi-disciplinary research collaboration and international articulation programs. Her research interests include stochastic processes and their applications to engineering and science. As a lecturer, Shuang teaches foundation mathematics, actuarial science, industrial optimisation, and data science.
Andrew Grose, BSc(Hons)
Andrew is a Statistician with a previous background in experimental design and statistical analysis of agricultural research trials. His knowledge and experience extends across a range of areas including spatial statistics, linear mixed models, experimental design, robust statistics, cluster analysis and outlier detection.
