Professor Buckley is Dean of Research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and Professor of Physics in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Curtin University. Overview
Professor Craig Buckley has 28 years experience in the Hydrogen Storage research field and is Manager of both the Hydrogen Storage Research Group (HSRG) and The W.A. Small Angle X-ray Scattering Facility (SAXS) at Curtin University. As of July 2017 Prof. Buckley was an author/co-author of 1 Book Chapter, 129 refereed Journal papers (plus 6 more submitted) and 19 refereed conference papers, 175 refereed conference abstracts and 14 non refereed papers and reports on the topics of hydrogen storage and structure determination. His expertise in hydrogen storage research is evident from his role as an Australian expert (1 of 2) on the International Energy Agency Hydrogen Implementing Agreement, Task 32 – Fundamental and applied hydrogen storage materials development. His expertise in structure determination using X-ray and neutron scattering techniques is reflected in being a chief/co-investigator for over 80 successful neutron and X-ray beam-time grants at National and International facilities since 1994. Prof. Buckley’s publications have been cited over 2316 times (Scopus) and 2928 times (Google Scholar) with approximately 75% of these citations relating to publications involving hydrogen storage research.

Research Interests
Professor Buckley is Dean of Research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and a Staff member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Curtin University. Research expertise is mainly focussed on hydrogen storage and structure determination using X-ray and neutron scattering techniques.
Professor Buckley established the Hydrogen Storage Research Group (HSRG) in Physics at Curtin University in 2002 and was the lead C.I. on a successful 2009 ARC LIEF grant “Facility for studying the sorption properties of gases by nanostructured materials”. In 2017 the HSRG has 6 Post-Doctoral Research Fellows, 6 Ph.D. students, 1 Honours student and several Third year students. Several high impact publications have resulted from research carried out within the HSRG.
Professor Buckley established the Western Australian Small Angle X-ray Scattering Facility (the first of its kind in W.A.) in the Department of Imaging and Applied Physics (DIAP) at Curtin University. The W.A. SAXS Facility, which I have managed since 2002 is an excellent facility for characterising the nanostructure of a whole range of different materials. Several high impact publications have resulted from research carried out at this facility.
