Angela is an environmental sociologist researching resilience in socio-cultural contexts integrating land management in multifunctional landscapes with conservation planning and management of iconic species.
Angela’s research addresses solutions to wicked problems spanning society and the environment. Angela provides high level advice on partnership building, conservation and research priorities through the IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy (CEESP) and also serves on The World Heritage Scientific Advisory Committee for Fraser Island (K’gari). Her expertise has been recognised through membership of the Assessment Panel for Queensland Government's Everyone's Environment Research Grants (2014) and as a Director on the Board of the Blackwood River Foundation (2010 – 2012). Angela convened the Fraser Island Research network linking over sixty international researchers (2012 – 2015) and led Curtin University’s Institute for Biodiversity and Climate (CIBC) Theme of Integration (2008 – 2012). Angela is a long serving Editorial Board member for the Journal of Ecological Management and Restoration demonstrating her strong social science advocacy in formal and international scientific forums. Angela has earned over $2,230,000 in research funds since her PhD was awarded in 2007.
