Curtin University has risen 30 places to equal 234th in the world, according to the US News and World Report’s latest global rankings.

The fifth annual ranking, which considers the University’s academic research performance and global reputation, also placed Curtin ninth in Australia.

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted Curtin continued to enhance its performance in global rankings, jumping 30 places from last year’s result.

“The US News and World Report’s Best Global University Rankings show Curtin continues to rise through international rankings, placing the University at equal 234th in the world and ninth in Australia,” Professor Terry said.

“This is a particularly exciting result when you consider the ranking measures both academic research and a 25 per cent reputational survey component.”

Professor Terry said the results showed Curtin’s continued growth as a global university.

“With campuses in Western Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Mauritius, Curtin University continues to prove its place on the world stage and remains committed to this upward trajectory,” Professor Terry said.

Curtin ranked in ten of the 22 subjects, up from eight last year, with Curtin’s top ranked subject being Geosciences, positioned at equal 67th in the world.

The US News and World Report’s Best Global University Rankings focus on the publication of academic research and on reputation. This year, 1,250 universities in 75 countries were evaluated.

This week, Curtin was also ranked 249 in the world and ninth in Australian in the 2018-19 University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP).
