Financing the energy transition
“We need to think differently about this – rather than recognising the transition as a problem, reframe it as good business development.” – Panellist
In November 2025, the Curtin Institute for Energy Transition convened a workshop on financing the energy transition. The workshop brought together finance representatives, investors, project proponents, government and other related stakeholders with a goal to identify what might constitute ‘fit-for-purpose’ financing mechanisms.
Attendees discussed practical tools that improve bankability by strengthening revenue and delivery certainty, and lowering the cost of capital, that could support WA’s energy transition. In practical terms, success looks like a lower cost, reliable energy system that underpins competitive clean exports and sustained regional employment.
