Human research ethics
Before conducting research that involves humans as participants, you must receive approval from the Human Research Ethics Committee. This includes surveys, psychological, physical and mental testing; observation; access to documents or records; use of body tissue; use of databases. Starting research before you have ethics approval may constitute research misconduct.
The Human Research Ethics Committee will not grant retrospective ethics approval.
Animal research ethics
Before conducting research that involves animals, you must receive approval from the Animal Ethics Committee. Starting research before you have ethics approval may constitute research misconduct.
